One of the most popular uses for the trusty Othermill is milling custom circuit boards. It’s an indispensable tool for universities and product designers wanting to iterate on the fly. Instead of having to send circuit board designs off to be fabricated by a PCB manufacturer and wait days or weeks to test them out, Othermill users can design, mill, and test multiple iterations in a matter of hours.
In our newest video, our very own Othermill aficionado Owen Smithyman walks you through the process of setting up Otherplan, the Othermill’s motion-control software, to mill circuit boards. The audiovisually inclined will rejoice at Owen’s clear instruction and soothing tone. You can watch and learn, or just listen to the audio as you work through the steps on your own machine. He even throws in really helpful tips along the way, like how to use the placement panel to better position your design and how to combine multiple end mill sizes for optimum milling. It’s four minutes you’ll be glad you spent with Owen.
