Prototype Boards for Faraday Bikes

Posted by Mari Hsu on Mar 11, 2014 5:00:00 PM

Faraday Bicycles is another successful Kickstarter project in our neighborhood, and is in the process of building their first run of beautiful electric bicycles. Faraday’s lead electrical engineer, Jim, needed two boards in a hurry for testing; a 24-hour turnaround time from a commercial source could have cost as much as $400 each! Instead, he came over with the .brd files in his USB cufflinks, and walked back to his office a little while later with the completed boards.

“These circuit boards will serve as the main contact boards for mechanical fixtures we are making to program and test the production electronics for our bicycles. Our contract manufacturer will use these fixtures to program and test fully assembled circuit boards before building them into the bike’s electromechanical fixtures.”

They are installed in their frames, and working well! Jim is fiddling with the mechanical side to complete the testing fixture.
