Our "Hello, World!" project, ready to mill in Otherplan Public Beta 0.23.3.
Big milestone! We’ve just released Otherplan Public Beta 0.23.3. This new version has a highly-anticipated feature: support for milling single-sided printed circuit boards. For the first time, Windows users can prototype PCBs quickly and easily using the same simple process that our Mac users have raved about.
As our first Public Beta release with PCB support, we’ve kept things as simple as possible. With this release, you’ll be able to:
- Import single-sided PCB designs from Eagle (.brd) and Gerber files.
- Specify FR-1 as your material and select a default or custom material size
- Choose one or two milling tools for each board, and preview the milling toolpaths to ensure you’ve selected the appropriate tools
- Mill the traces, holes, and board outline with the tools you've selected
Upcoming releases will include our other popular PCB milling features: support for two-sided PCBs; the ability to independently mill traces, holes, and outlines; and customizable feeds and speeds – among others.
This release also features a number of other bug fixes and improvements, including solving an issue that could cause crashes on Windows machines with older graphics drivers.
As always, we are excited to hear your feedback. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org any time.
