Custom Gifts for Mother's Day

!One of the wonderful things about having an Othermill is the ability to make thoughtful, custom presents to celebrate notable occasions. It’s also useful for those of us who may or may not be great at planning ahead and need a thoughtful, custom gift in time for brunch.

This year for Mother’s Day, we made one image we liked and then cut it into a bunch of different materials for all gift-giving purposes, emergency or otherwise.

We made an enameled luggage tag, a keychain tag, a pendant, and a stamp made out of some nifty clear linoleum. They were all cut using the 1/32" end mill and 80-degree engravers we carry in our store.

For the design, we looked at some classic Sailor Jerry-style tattoos for inspiration then designed and formatted for Otherplan using Inkscape.

The enamel is the same kind we used for our cloisonné trinkets project and does require a bit of forethought, as it takes a few hours to cure.

This year, meet up with that special person who takes the chief Mom position in your life, happy that you’ve made something custom just for her. It’s the thought that counts, and a unique, homemade gift always gets extra points.

As always, if you have questions about how we did these projects or Othermill questions in general, mail us at Happy Mother’s Day from OMC!
