There’s a fairly new electronics publication called Diyode across the pond in Australia, and apparently, it’s “the first new magazine supporting electronics enthusiasts and makers that Australia has seen in 30 years.” Issue #8 just came out, and we’re thrilled that they did an in-depth review of our Bantam Tools Desktop PCB Milling Machine and loved it.
Our own Danielle Applestone appeared this week on CNET’s CES panel on New Directions in 3D Printing. It’s a great conversation with interesting projections for the milling and 3D printing communities.
We’re excited to announce that Popular Mechanics named our CEO, Danielle Applestone, one of 25 Makers Who Are Reinventing the American Dream in its April 2014 issue!
We have a bit of great news to share: we are incredibly honored to announce that we’ve been chosen by Popular Mechanics for a 2013 Breakthrough Award! The Breakthrough Award is given to products that “represent the highest standard in innovation and execution…they solve real problems…they push technical limits…” Wow! We certainly think so, but it is always nice to get a thumbs up from an organization like this.
Other Machine Co. was on NPR Monday morning. Saul spoke with Jon Kalish about the need for easy to use CNC machines in schools. Machines like those made by OMC offer a way to interest students in careers in manufacturing and help them understand how fun engineering can be. Both the Othermill and Othercutter are being designed to fit organically into a classroom setting and we’re excited to see all the interest educators are taking in them.
