The title of this post is written in a machine programming language called G-Code. It’s used by industry and hobbyists to control machines that make things. This particular command is one that tells the machine to orient itself in space. This process is called finding home.

Finding home

I feel like that’s an appropriate first post for our shiny new blog here at Otherfab. We’re starting up our tiny little company, and finding home. Right now, home is in a former pipe organ factory in the heart of the Mission District of San Francisco. Our X,Y & Z coordinates are  37.758956N, -122.41169W, and we’re 100ft above sea level. That tells you where we are, but it doesn’t say much about who we are or what we do.

We’re a collection of designers, engineers, artists, and fabricators who are really passionate about making tools. We’ve been working on some interesting machines for over a year, and now we’re getting ready to share them with the outside world.

Stay tuned!
